What is Web Hosting?
Web hosting is a web based service where you subscripe to a web server’s space, bandwidth and usually databases through a hosting provider so that you can publish and maintain a website.
Web hosting providers can offer “free web hosting“, which is is usually supported with banners and pop up ads, or “shared web hosting“, where the server you host your website on is shared by other subscribers (like yourself) websites, or “vps web hosting“, which is virtual private server hosting a service where your website is the only one the server and finally “dedicated web hosting” which is similar to vps web hosting, where your website is sitting on your own physical web server. For most small business websites a shared web hosting package is recommended.
What is bandwidth?
In a web hosting context bandwidth describe the amount of data visitors download from your website, most providers apply a monthly bandwidth limit. Most small business websites on shared web hosting servers will not need more than 1GB of bandwidth per month.
What is disk space?
Disk space is the hard disk space the web hosting provider allow you to use for your website. Your, web pages, pdf documents, images, flash files, animations and so on must not exceed the disk space storage space you signed up for. Most small business websites on shared hosting servers don’t need more than 1 MB of disk space.
What is uptime?
Uptime is usually displayed in the form of percentage and uptime it is the time your website is up and running – or “live” on the Internet. 100% uptime means you website is accessible on the Internet 24/7/365.
What is a domain name?
The domain name is the “street” address of your “house”, aka website. Our domain name hostingkingdom.com. Most web hosting providers offer free domain name registration that comes with the web hosting package, but you can also register a domain name elsewhere and “point” it to your webhosting account.
